Tanya Holland’s Brown Sugar Kitchen is just one block from our library. “Chef Holland received her formal French training from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in Burgundy, France, has an extensive culinary background and has been the recipient of many distinctions, honors and awards.”

McMullens one of Oakland’s newest and most upscale retail shops is one block up Broadway, the uptown district is infused with art and distinctive architecture, the Kapor Center is across the street. Beyond One Block
Step onto the FREE Broadway Shuttle and see what you can discover in downtown. Possibilities include Jack London Square, Old Oakland, Chinatown, City Hall, Lake Merritt, the Kaiser Roof Garden, the Washington Inn, Swan’s Market and Yoshi’s Jazz Club. From Jack London Square you can catch the Ferry to Sausalito or San Francisco and it’s just a two-block walk to the Oakland AMTRAK Train station.
